Compare the new design to last years model and you'll seethat the big SUV has been reinvented from bumper to bumper. It now moreclosely resembles an FX or EX rather than its older sibling, the NissanArmada. The QX's new high-stiffness frame structure enhances ridecomfort while reducing noise, vibration and harshness, leaving us with amuch smoother ride overall. The new 5.6-liter V8 engine combines theresponsive acceleration of Infinitis V.V.E.L. (Variable Valve Event& Lift) technology with the efficiency of Direct Injection Gasoline(D.I.G.) and 7-speed automatic transmission. It now has 400 horsepowerand 413 lb-ft of torque, the QX can handle heavy towing tasks with its8,500-pound towing capacity- which is only about 400 less, while alsooffering more than 10% better fuel economy than the previous generationQX. Structural changes include a new high-stiffness frame structure withenlarged side rail section width, redesigned connecting structuresbetween each crossmember and side rails, an integrated rear hitchmember, improved stiffness of the cabin mounting points and a specialrear body ring structure around the tailgate. Walkaround The 2011 Infiniti QX is conceived to attract and hold viewersattention, conveying its underlying sense of power and strength. Thedesign is dynamic, its size capable of transporting eight adults andtheir belongings with spacious elegance. The bold front chrome grille isflanked by automatic on/off bi-functional xenon headlights withavailable headlight washers and integrated front fog lights.Auto-leveling headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) areoptionally available. Other exterior features include LED taillights,heated, power-folding sideview mirrors with integrated turn signals,courtesy lights and reverse tilt-down feature, body color runningboards, body color integrated front and rear splash guards built intothe wheel arches, roof rails, power sliding tinted glass moonroof and apower rear liftgate. The new QX features revised dimensions versus theprevious generation 1.4-inches longer, 1.1-inches wider and 3.8-incheslower in overall height. A front underbody spoiler, rear liftgatespoiler and redesigned side mirrors help provide improved aerodynamicsof 0.37 Cd and zero lift. The QXs strong presence is accented by thepowerful wheel and tire combinations standard 20-inch and available22-inch and a palette of six distinctive exterior colors. Summary The QX is offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, with the 4WDmodel featuring Infinitis proven All-Mode 4WD system with Auto, 4H, and4L modes. The system is designed to distribute torque to all fourwheels when road conditions warrant (up to 50 percent can go to thefront wheels on demand), helping to enhance traction. All QX models alsoinclude Hill Start Assist. With Hill Start Assist, if a driver stops ona slope and steps off the brake pedal, the system will keep the QXstationary for a few seconds with no roll back. This enables drivers toeasily switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator on steepinclines. For the first time ever on an Infiniti vehicle, a newHydraulic Body Motion Control system is offered (available on both 2WDand 4WD models as part of the Deluxe Touring Package, which alsoincludes 22-inch wheels and tires and a number of other features). Thesystem helps reduce body lean while turning for a more comfortable ride.Utilizing hydraulic cylinders located at the shock absorbers (connectedvia cross piping and two accumulators), it adjusts roll stiffness byallowing transfer of fluid between the left and right sides of thevehicle through passive weight transfer during normal driving. It alsohelps reduce bump shock by setting bounce and roll damping forcesseparately. 2011 Audi Q7

Just as it followed the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne into the marketplace, the Audi Q7now will be following their lead on engine downsizing. While itsrecently updated exterior remains unchanged, the 2011 Q7 loses both ofits current gasoline engines, the 280-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 and the 350-hp,4.2-liter V-8. They get replaced by two variations of the superchargedTFSI 3.0-liter V-6 found in the A6, S4, and S5.

In the Q7, theentry-level 3.0 TFSI makes 272 hp and produces 295 lb-ft of torque—downeight horses but up 29 lb-ft from the 3.6-liter's 266. The stronger Q7’s3.0 makes 333 hp and produces 325 lb-ft of torque, a 17-hp deficitcompared to the outgoing V-8 but matching it in the torque column. Topspeed with the new engines is 140 and 152 mph, respectively.

Whilewe don't have U.S. fuel-economy figures yet, Q7’s mileage will improvemarkedly. In Europe, the entry-level model improves by 12 percent, andthe stronger motor tops the V-8 by 16 percent. That's partly thanks tothe new engines and partly thanks to the eight-speed automatic thatreplaces the current six-speed box across the board.
